Broncos' Joe Ellis Disappointed Team Still Without Naming-Rights Deal For Stadium

Broncos President & CEO Joe Ellis has "nothing to report" when it comes to the organization's "search for a new naming-rights deal for its stadium," according to Nick Kosmider of the DENVER POST. Ellis said, "I’m a little disappointed in that. On the other hand, there’s a lot that goes into these deals, and some of them take longer periods of time than others. Some are quicker than the timetable we’ve been on. I’m looking forward to getting a deal done, but it has to be the right deal, and we’ve had discussions and we have a few more coming up. I’m not going to reveal who they’re with. It has to be the right partner, and there’s a lot of different components to it." The Broncos, who assumed control of the naming rights last August, are "preparing for another season at Sports Authority Field at Mile High." The Broncos have "taken removing the Sports Authority signage of the stadium off the table until an agreement with a new-naming rights partner is in place." Ellis said, "I’m not just going to rebrand it one time and then brand it back. We’re not going to do that. If we’re going to spend money to do those kinds of things, or take the time, we’re going to do it to make the game-day experience better for the fans." Ellis said that one factor in a new naming-rights deal is "possible developments around the stadium in which the city of Denver has expressed interest" (DENVER POST, 7/27).
