Patriots QB TOM BRADY is coming out with a book called, "THE TB12 METHOD: HOW TO ACHIEVE A LIFETIME OF SUSTAINED PEAK PERFORMANCE." The upcoming title, which is "slated for a September release, will basically be a 320-page Brady bible." It will "dive into his personal regimen and how he approaches different aspects of wellness, such as strength training, cognitive fitness, recovery and daily habits." The book, which has "already earned the No. 1 Best-Seller slot for books," can be pre-ordered on Amazon for $29.99 (BOSTON HERALD, 7/7). The book "likely provides a peek into Brady's life and thinking, which he doesn't provide often" (SPORTS.YAHOO.com, 7/6).

NICE GUYS CAN FINISH FIRST TOO: Hornets G KEMBA WALKER is proving there is "still room for nice guys in the NBA." Walker was "raised by working-class parents in a rough New York City neighborhood to respect others. To be humble. To treat those he encounters as he would want to be treated." Walker last month "received the NBA's annual sportsmanship award, as voted by the league's players." When asked if he voted for himself for the award, Walker said, "I didn't vote for me. Who does that? I voted for [Pelicans C] ANTHONY DAVIS" (CHARLOTTE OBSERVER, 7/7).

COLLEGE GREENERY: Univ. of Oregon AD ROB MULLENS "signed a contract extension in October" that runs through '24 at an "annual salary of $717,500." The contract "wasn't announced and didn't become public until excerpts were posted." The extension came "less than two years into a five-year deal Mullens signed" in February '15 at an "annual salary of $700,000" (Eugene REGISTER-GUARD, 7/7)....New Eastern Michigan AD SCOTT WETHERBEE will "earn an annual salary of $269,000 under a five-year contract that is expected to be signed within the next 60 days." Wetherbee's predecessor, HEATHER LYKE, "earned a base salary of $245,000 before leaving in March" to take the AD job at Pitt (DETROIT NEWS, 7/7).

NAMESSAMUEL HAYES III, a former security manager for the Hawks, has filed suit against his ex-employer and the team's VP/Customer Service & Operations JASON PARKER, alleging that "security measures were enforced, or not enforced, based on race" and that his firing was racially motivated. The team "disputes the claims, saying the plaintiff was fired due to poor performance" (AJC.com, 7/6)....Seahawks QB RUSSELL WILSON announced Wednesday he is teaming with former NFLer JAKE HEAPS to "form the Russell Wilson Quarterback Academy." Heaps is listed as the academy's Dir of Operations and head coach. Programs vary in prices from $125 to $300 for QBs ages 10-22 (SEATTLE TIMES, 7/6)....The Wall Street Journal reviewed DAVID ORTIZ’ new book, "PAPI: MY STORY." The book, co-authored with MICHAEL HOLLEY, is "crisp, straightforward and organized." However, the book "sounds a lot like Ortiz's voice, especially when it comes to the people the player adores ... and the ones he dislikes" (WSJ.com, 7/6).
