Dan Fegan Files Suit Against Several ISE Employees, Including Hank Ratner

NBA agent Dan Fegan has filed a lawsuit against Independent Sports & Entertainment President & CEO Hank Ratner and other employees of that company alleging fraud and interference with contractual relations. He is asking for damages of at least $30M. ISE fired Fegan on March 10 and the two sides are engaged in arbitrations over each party's claim for monetary damages. In the lawsuit Fegan filed Thursday in L.A. Superior Court, Fegan alleges Ratner "orchestrated a Machiavellian conspiracy to destroy plaintiff Dan Fegan’s reputation and steal his clients." The suit also names Ratner's son, Michael, ISE exec Frank Quintero and ISE agents James Dunleavy and Travis King as defendants. “As a result of Defendants’ dirty work, Fegan has lost several NBA player clients, for which he seeks at least $30 million in damages, plus punitive damages," the lawsuit alleges. “The motivation for this scheme was the control of ISE’s Basketball Division, a successful and lucrative business that was built and managed over many years by Fegan.” An ISE spokesperson issued a statement Friday denying the allegations. "Dan Fegan's reputation speaks for itself," an ISE spokesperson said. "Clients have been firing him for years and he continues to blame others for his own egregious misconduct. The fantastical tale alleged by Mr. Fegan in this publicity stunt of a complaint bears no resemblance to reality. His rehashed allegations haven’t worked in any court to date and won’t work now. While we will continue to pursue our claims against Mr. Fegan for breach of contract, ISE remains focused on delivering exceptional representation to its clients.”
