Digital Sports Media Consumption In April Steady With March But Down From '16

The digital sports media category in April held steady after marked retreats in January and February and a March Madness-fueled increase in March. Monthly comScore data showed a total sports audience reach of 180.6 million and an average content consumption of 98.3 minutes per user during the month, roughly on par with figures of 178.9 million and 100 minutes, respectively, during March. However, the latest consumption figure remains down sharply from an average of 122.6 minutes per user during April ’16. ESPN led the category for the eighth straight month and the 37th time in the last 38 months with a reach total of 82.2 million unique visitors. Scout Media, now part of CBS Sports Digital, posted a company record of 7.1 million uniques during the month, up 43% from a year ago.
