In Charlotte, Katherine Peralta notes Panthers QB Cam Newton's signature limited edition cleats -- the Under Armour C1N MC LE -- are "currently available on Eastbay and are also selling on UA.com this week." They retail for $170. The four limited-edition styles are "replicas of some of Newton's pre-game cleats from last season" (CHARLOTTE OBSERVER, 5/11).

GOTTA HAVE MY CEREAL: In Chicago, Lewis Lazare noted former MLBer David Ross is "headed exclusively to the shelves at Jewel-Osco stores in the Chicago area with his limited edition collector's cereal 'Grandpa Rossy Crunch.'" It is a "frosted corn flakes product that comes packaged in a 14-ounce collector's box featuring a custom illustration of Ross." Jewel-Osco has become "ground zero in Chicago for baseball stars with their own branded cereals." Cubs 1B Anthony Rizzo also "brought his branded cereal to Jewel-Osco" (BIZJOURNALS.com, 5/10).

TOUR GUIDE: VENTURE BEAT's Dean Takahashi noted IBM and Pebble Beach Co. have "partnered to add Watson’s artificial intelligence to a virtual concierge that shows guests around the Pebble Beach golf resort." The collaboration "highlights how IBM is targeting the golf business and virtual concierge experiences with its AI technology." To promote the app, the companies have "tapped" surfer Laird Hamilton and his wife, volleyball player Gabrielle Reece (VENTUREBEAT.com, 5/9).
