Nike Remains Top Jersey/Shoe Provider For Teams In Women's NCAA Tourney

Nike once again is by far the top shoe and jersey provider for the 64 teams in the Women’s NCAA Tournament. Nike and its affiliated brands outfit 39 teams in some capacity (36 teams wear both Nike shoes and jerseys -- Hampton, Western Kentucky and Texas Southern wear just Nike shoes). That is up from 37 teams last season, but still a decrease from the 49 schools it sponsored in ’15. Fifteen teams are wearing Adidas shoes this year, down from 18 a year ago but still up seven overall from ’15. Under Armour is sponsoring 10 teams in the field this year, continuing its steady climb from nine in ’16 and seven in ’15. Russell Athletics supplies the jerseys for two schools this year, unchanged from last season. The first round of the women’s tournament begins today (THE DAILY).
