Coastal Carolina AD Says School Has Plans In Place To Cover $40,000 Cost For CBI Game

Coastal Carolina AD Matt Hogue said that the school "paid $40,000 to CBI organizers to host its first round game" against Hampton Univ. at 7:00pm ET tomorrow night at the HTC Center, according to Alan Blondin of the Myrtle Beach SUN NEWS. Hogue said that the school has "contingencies in place to handle most if not all of the cost." Blondin notes CCU has postseason provisions "written into the agreements with many of the businesses that sponsor the basketball program and advertise at its home games." Ticket sales, concession sales and "possible revenue from a television broadcast will play a role in covering the cost, as well," and if there is a "cost to the university, Hogue believes it’s validated by the added exposure the team will receive." CCU is "responsible for its own television production" of the first round game through Conway, S.C.-based Lucky Dog Productions, and is "working on syndication to expand the broadcast markets" (Myrtle Beach SUN NEWS, 3/14).
