Nike Remains Top Provider For NCAA Men's Tourney Teams, But Down A Bit From '16

Nike once again is by far the top shoe and jersey provider for the 68 teams in the NCAA Tournament, but the company’s dominance is down slightly from last year. Nike and its affiliated Jordan Brand outfit 40 teams for both jerseys and shoes (Texas Southern wears Russell Athletic jerseys and Nike shoes). That is down from 41 teams last season and a decrease of 17% from the 48 schools it sponsored in ’15. Three schools in each of the past two seasons wore Nike shoes but had Russell Athletic jerseys. Adidas is second on this year's list with 15 teams, continuing a steady climb from 14 in ’16 and 11 in ’15. Under Armour continues to see its on-court fortunes rise, as it is providing jerseys and shoes for a record 12 teams in the field this year. UA's number is set to grow even further in the future, with longtime Adidas school UCLA joining the brand’s ranks at the start of next season (THE DAILY).
