Liberty Media CEO Discusses Possible Braves RSN, Mixed-Use Project Near SunTrust Park

Liberty Media President & CEO Greg Maffei, whose company owns the Braves, said once the team's current RSN deal with Fox Sports ends in '27, there is a "real opportunity" for a "whole other revenue stream around some kind of RSN alongside the team,” according to Tim Tucker of the ATLANTA JOURNAL-CONSTITUTION. Maffei on Monday at an investors conference said of the team's deal with Fox Sports, “Our deal is certainly not the worst. I think there’s upside to our deal because we have one of the largest footprints, potentially. But it really won’t be for a while until we can recognize that.” Meanwhile, Maffei said of the team’s new SunTrust Park, “The new stadium should generate substantially more revenue than the prior stadium.” He also noted the mixed-use facility around the ballpark, The Battery, is “not fully leased.” Maffei: “We expect to do it in phases. Important parts like Comcast taking the office space, like the build-out of the music facility we have with Live Nation -- all of those are going to be completed this year and are attractive parts to building a full mixed-use facility” (ATLANTA JOURNAL-CONSTITUTION, 3/7).
