Price Chopper Becomes Royals' Official Grocer After End Of 15-Year Deal With Hy-Vee

Price Chopper is now the "official grocer" of the Royals, after the team's exclusive deal with Hy-Vee "ended last year" following a 15-year partnership, according to Pete Grathoff of the K.C. STAR. The Hy-Vee seats at Kauffman Stadium "won't be named." Royals VP/Community Affairs & Publicity Toby Cook said, "We are not naming the upper level the Price Chopper level. It’s going to go back to just being called the view-level seats." There will be "Price Chopper signage" at Kauffman Stadium and Royals tickets "will be available for purchase at Price Chopper stores" in the K.C. area. Price Chopper will help the team in "most of its community and charity outreaches." The company also will "renovate two youth baseball fields this year in conjunction with the Royalty Fields initiative, be involved in Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities (RBI) Clinics, Greater Kansas City Day and the Alex Gordon Classic youth baseball tournament." Price Chopper "became the grocery sponsor" for Sporting KC in '14 (KANSASCITY.com, 1/19).
