Dodgers Lead All MLB Clubs In Attendance For Fourth Straight Year; Mets Up 10% Over '15

The Dodgers led all MLB clubs in average attendance for the fourth straight season, averaging 45,720 fans per game. That figure at Chavez Ravine is down slightly from last season. The Mets, in the playoffs for a second year in a row, led all NL clubs in gains with attendance up 9.9% when compared to last season. This year marked the team’s highest average since its inaugural season at Citi Field. The Cardinals finished second in the NL with 42,525 fans per game, but in a September game against the Reds saw a 240-game streak of at least 40,000 fans at Busch Stadium come to an end. The Cubs, at a newly renovated Wrigley Field, were the only NL Central team with a year-over-year gate increase. In their final season at Turner Field, the Braves had their lowest attendance in the ballpark’s 20-year history. NL attendance was hampered in part by the Reds, down 21.7%, the largest drop among MLB teams. See yesterday's issue for AL figures.
