NFL Names & Faces: Tom Brady, Jeff Bridges, Julian Edelman Team Up For UGG Campaign

UGG today announced a new fall campaign featuring longtime endorser Patriots QB Tom Brady joined by Pats WR Julian Edelman and actor Jeff Bridges. The three will be featured in a five-part digital series launching Sunday that has some fun with the fact Brady is suspended for the first four games of the season. The "Do Nothing" campaign was filmed in L.A. in partnership with Camp + King, S.F. The digital and print campaign is supported by traditional and online media channels (UGG). In Boston, Emily Sweeney noted Brady on Tuesday "posted a video on Facebook previewing " the ad campaign. The six-second teaser "shows a pair of comfy-looking men's UGG slippers beside framed photos" of Brady and Bridges. Brady in a Facebook post included with the video wrote, "I've teamed up with UGG, Jeff Bridges and Julian Edelman to remind you of something very important on the heels of Labor Day weekend: You have earned the right to do nothing" (BOSTON GLOBE, 9/7).

BIGGER THAN FOOTBALL: FOOTWEAR NEWS' Peter Verry noted adidas has put together a 60-second short film that "features appearances from the highest-profile athletes on the brand's roster," including Packers QB Aaron Rodgers and Broncos DE Von Miller. The film, titled "Sport Needs Creators," will run tonight during Panthers-Broncos. It also features Rockets G James Harden, Cubs 3B Kris Bryant, Celtics F Jaylen Brown, Lakers F Brandon Ingram, Nuggets G Jamal Murray and Manchester United MF Paul Pogba (FOOTWEARNEWS.com, 9/6).

SHUNNING THE SPOTLIGHT: In San Jose, Jerry McDonald noted Raiders DE Khalil Mack is on "anyone’s short-list of the NFL’s top defensive players," but he has "turned down commercial opportunities as well as a guest appearance" on HBO's "Ballers." Sandy Mack Jr., who reps his brother, said Khalil Mack "wants to be known as the best before he gets endorsements, and he doesn't feel like he's done anything yet." McDonald noted Mack "recoils like an adolescent being asked about his first girlfriend" when asked about the "pot of gold that awaits" him in endorsements. Mack: "I'm not comfortable talking about that stuff. That's just not me" (SAN JOSE MERCURY NEWS, 9/7).
