NFL Franchise Notes: Rumbling Around League Surrounding Broncos' Ownership After Bowlen

CBSSPORTS.com's Jason La Canfora reported with the failing health of Broncos Owner Pat Bowlen, there is "a lot of rumbling" around the league about the team and its future. There are "some concerns in the league office about the ability of the Bowlen family to sort through all of the potential issues and retain the team in the end." This coincides with things "not exactly going particularly smooth" with the Lions and Titans following the "passing of a team patriarch." There would be "no shortage of potential suitors for the Broncos franchise if it were to come to sale." There is "a lot of whispering going on about this situation" (CBSSPORTS.com, 5/23).

SELLING OUT: In N.Y., Gary Myers wrote the Jets in trying to "entice PSL holders to buy more season tickets" have gone "deep into their marketing playbook." The team "cut the fans in the upper deck a break: No PSLs." The Jets in an email to ticket holders gave the "opportunity to buy full season tickets" for Jets Club and PSL holders. The offer allows the season-ticket holder to "purchase up to two additional seats in their price category or lower with no PSLs attached" for the '16 season with "no promise the deal will be available for future seasons." Myers wrote the Jets are "selling out their most loyal season ticket holders." Myers: "How would you feel if you spent the money in 2010 to buy four PSLs and the person next to you bought two. And now that person can get two more tickets without the PSL simply because the market would not support the Jets selling all the PSL seats in the last six years?" (N.Y. DAILY NEWS, 5/22).

HE'S NO DUMMY: In Pittsburgh, Brody Miller noted the Steelers have been "experimenting with a robotic dummy called 'MVP,' short for Mobile Virtual Player." The dummy was "originally made famous by Dartmouth last year and is now being tested in the NFL." The dummy can "provide the Steelers with a practice tool that reduces the risks that come with players hitting each other." MVP is "still in the testing phase." MVP Co-Founder Elliot Kastner said that they are "hoping for it to be available to all NFL teams" by '17 (POST-GAZETTE.com, 5/20).
