Dressed For Success: Online Retailer Benefiting From Cubs' Need For Crazy Suits

OppoSuits, an online retailer with a line of more than 40 styles of slim-cut and colorful suits, is using Cubs players as “high profile models this week” in a move that has “already boosted business,” according to Robert Channick of the CHICAGO TRIBUNE. Cubs manager Joe Maddon mandated that players "wear a 'minimalist zany' suit" for the duration of a road trip that began last night against the Pirates. A team spokesperson said that players went to OppoSuits, which "has established itself as the Brooks Brothers of zany suits." Cubs players this week have worn everything from "camouflage and plaid designs to a patriotic stars-and-stripes ensemble ... that scream kitschy cool." Maddon himself was seen "sporting a crisp blue suit and matching tie covered in tulips." OppoSuits co-Founder Jelle van der Zwet said that the company "has customers in more than 50 countries and is projected to top" $10M in sales this year (CHICAGO TRIBUNE, 5/3).
