NHL Attendance Relatively Flat For '15-16 Season; Panthers Up Big In South Florida

NHL attendance was relatively flat for the '15-16 season, with teams averaging 17,441 fans per game compared to 17,376 last season (+0.2%). The Panthers led all NHL clubs in gains at the gate this season, with average attendance up 36.5% at BB&T Center. The Panthers were the only Eastern Conference club to see a significant uptick at home. Meanwhile, the Islanders during the club's first season in Brooklyn saw attendance decline 11% compared to last season on Long Island. Capacity for NHL games at Barclays Center is below what Nassau Coliseum had. The Blue Jackets also saw attendance decline 5.5% at Nationwide Arena this season. The Hurricanes saw a league-low average of 12,204 fans per game this season, down 4% from the '14-15 campaign. See tomorrow's issue for NHL Western Conference figures (THE DAILY).
