Buyers & Sellers: Phil Knight Selling Calif. Home, Kevin Plank Building Mansion In Md.

Nike co-Founder & Chair PHIL KNIGHT "is selling one of his homes" in La Quinta, Calif., after listing the one-acre Madison Club house for $2.5M last Tuesday. Knight bought a $4.2M house there earlier in '15. The home "overlooks the 13th green of the club's golf course." Pictures show an "expansive fairway with mountain views, but the home isn't visible" (Palm Springs DESERT SUN, 12/30).

WE MUST PRESERVE THIS PLOT: Under Armour Founder, Chair & CEO KEVIN PLANK "is building what might be the biggest house in Maryland" on the crest of a "historic estate in a bucolic part of Baltimore County that conservationists and wealthy residents have fought to preserve from development for more than 50 years." Plank's Brooklandville home "would span nearly 35,000 square feet, with eight bedrooms, 12 bathrooms, four powder rooms, an indoor pool, an elevator and four-car garage." The project "is expected to cost" $6.6M. The Planks, who "currently live nearby in a nearly 15,000-square-foot home" renovated in '09, "intend to use the home as a private residence" (BALTIMORESUN.com, 12/23).

ALL ABOUT THE HAMILTONS: MLB Rangers LF JOSH HAMILTON "has sold his mansion" in Newport Coast, Calif., for $12.5M. The house, set in a guarded community, has six bedrooms and 8.5 baths in "nearly 11,000 square feet of living space." There are six fireplaces, a lower entertainment wing which "sports a game room, a home theater, a wine cellar and a garage with parking for as many as eight cars." An elevator "runs between each of the home's three floors." On the main level, sliding doors "open to a loggia with a sitting area topped with stone arches." An infinity-edge swimming pool and spa "are also within the half-acre setting" (LATIMES.com, 1/4).

HOUSE HUNTERS: MLB Giants RF HUNTER PENCE "recently splashed out" $4.25M on a condo in a 60-story high-rise in S.F. after "buying a one-bedroom unit" from Pro Football HOFer JOE MONTANA in '14. On the 51st floor, the unit "features open-plan living areas, hardwood floors and an upgraded kitchen complete with a wine chiller, pendant lighting and an island/breakfast bar" in 2,200 square feet of living space (LATIMES.com, 12/31).

BUYERS & SELLERS: Fox Sports' COLIN COWHERD "has sold his home in Naples, Fla.," for $3.9M. Former Best Buy President & COO ALLEN LENZMEIER bought the house, which has 3,562 square feet and bi-folding glass doors which "bring the outdoors inside" (LATIMES.com, 12/25)....Golfer DUSTIN JOHNSON "has sold another waterfront property" with nearly 4,500 square feet of interiors in North Palm Beach, Fla., for $3.825M. The single-story home in a gated community "fronts the Intracoastal Waterway on more than half an acre with a covered loggia and a swimming pool and spa." Private dockage "can accommodate a yacht of up to 80 feet" (LATIMES.com, 1/1)....Basketball HOFer JAMES WORTHY "has sold a home" in California for $2.025M. The two-story house in guard-gated Bel-Air Crest originally listed for sale in September for $2.195M and "was taken off the market in November." Worthy "bought the home nearly two decades ago for $945,000." Within nearly 3,900 square feet of space "is an eat-in kitchen, formal living and dining rooms, a wet bar and a media/game room" (LATIMES.com, 1/5)....ED MCCASKEY JR., one of the six McCaskey family members on the Bears' nine-person BOD, "bought a three-bedroom townhouse" in Lake Forest, Ill., near the team's HQ for "a little more than $936,000" (CHICAGOBUSINESS.com, 12/28).
