MLB Giants, Duke Basketball Top Teams On StubHub's Year-End Sales Report

StubHub has issued its first-ever “Year In Live Experiences” report, with the MLB Giants emerging as the top-selling team across all leagues with the highest overall volume of sales. Duke men's basketball was the top-selling team per event. The average sports ticket purchaser on StubHub during the year was 40 years old, slightly younger than the company's overall customer base. Sports ticket purchasers on StubHub were 61% male and bought tickets to an average of five events during the year. The report also predicted that mobile-based purchases will comprise at least half of its overall digitally-based sales volume by ’19. Taylor Swift was the most closely correlated musical artist to sports ticket purchases on the platform, with the pop star representing most frequently attended concert purchase for fans of 13 pro teams, followed by Garth Brooks correlating most to 11 pro teams.

THAT'S THE TICKET: Ticketmaster released the findings of its ’15 Live Event Attendance Report, indicating that 23% of U.S. residents attended a sporting event during that year, with that audience averaging 5.1 events during ’15. The report also found that residents of Southeastern states attended the most sporting events of any U.S. region and 30% of Americans expect to attend a greater number of sporting events in ’16.
