Steve Nash Teaming With CBC On One-Hour Drama Set Around Basketball Academy

Former NBAer Steve Nash is "teaming up with the CBC to develop a one-hour drama set at an elite basketball academy," according to Cassandra Szklarski of the CP. Nash said that the proposed series "would revolve around the teens, parents, coaches and administrators at a Toronto-area school, and the unique trials young athletes face as they seek superstardom." It is "tentatively titled 'Hardwood,' with Nash working behind-the-scenes" as an exec producer. Nash said that the project is "still in a very early stage of development with scripts currently being written." Nash said that he "envisions stories that would delve into the intense pressures young players face and the 'shady' dealmaking that can emerge around them" (CP, 11/9).

ANCHOR WOMAN: The HOLLYWOOD REPORTER's Lesley Goldberg reported that the CW is teaming with actress Olivia Munn to "develop an untitled 1970s female sportscaster drama." The drama, set in '74, "revolves around a young journalist who gets hired by an ambitious New York news programming chief as a publicity stunt to be one of the first female on-air sports reporters." Munn is a "former Fox Sports Net intern and worked as a sideline reporter covering college football and women's basketball" (HOLLYWOODREPORTER.com, 11/9).
