Media Notes

In DC, Deron Snyder writes the NFL "isn’t the only sports league to complain about GIFs and Vines," but Commissioner Roger Goodell "heads the biggest bully in sports, leading the way as Twitter suspended accounts for two high-profile sites on Monday." While Deadspin’s Twitter account "was reactivated Monday night," the account for SB Nation’s GIF handle "was still suspended as of Wednesday evening." There is "no reason for alarm on the NFL’s part." The prevalence of quick, video replays does not "dent the league’s bottom line," nor do they "hurt 'The Shield' or damage the brand." However, the NFL "doesn’t recognize the cultural and social benefits of blooper GIFs and highlight Vines" because they are "not preceded by dollar signs" (WASHINGTON TIMES, 10/15).

SIERA MIST
: In Chicago, Lewis Lazare reported Siera Santos is joining CSN Chicago and "will become part of the sports cable channel's signature 'SportsNet Central' reporting team." Santos "will fill one of two reporting posts left vacant at CSNC since Jen Lada exited a couple of months ago for ESPN and the sports cable channel opted recently not to renew Aiyana Cristal's contract" (BIZJOURNALS.com, 10/14).

NOTES: The T'Wolves and WCCO-AM yesterday announced that the station will "continue broadcasting the NBA team's game after signing a new four-year agreement" through the '18-19 season. The team "has been on WCCO" since the '11-12 NBA season (STARTRIBUNE.com, 10/14)....WWE has "steadily received more attention from ESPN," and now "Monday Night Raw" will "apparently become a weekly feature every Tuesday" at 9:00pm ET (PHILLY.com, 10/14).
