USA TODAY's Brent Schrotenboer reports U.S. District Judge Marco Hernandez yesterday "ordered Nike to cough up certain communications" between itself and Lance Armstrong that had been requested by the U.S. government. The government is suing Armstrong "on behalf of the U.S. Postal Service, which paid more than" $30M to sponsor his cycling team" from '98-'04. Hernandez indicated that he will "wait to decide on financial information requested by Armstrong and Nike, pending further arguments" by Armstrong's attorneys (USA TODAY, 9/30).

DEFENSIVE TACTICS: Scotiabank has signed an endorsement deal with Canadiens D P.K. Subban. The former Norris Trophy winner will be featured in the bank's "Portraits of the 5th Season" documentary series, which airs on Sportsnet's Wednesday night NHL coverage. He also will support Scotiabank's sponsorship of community hockey teams across Canada and will participate in special events for bank customers throughout the season (Scotiabank).

OLYMPIC NOTES: Gold Medal-winning U.S. skier Mikaela Shiffrin has renewed her contract with Barilla pasta through the '15-16 season, marking the third year of the partnership. She will continue to wear the Barilla logo on her helmet (Barilla). Meanwhile, BP today will formally announce its roster of seven athlete ambassadors for the '16 Rio Games. It includes Olympians Sanya Richards-Ross and Nathan Adrian and Paralympians Tatyana McFadden, Brad Snyder, Melissa Stockwell, Lex Gillette and Matt Stutzman (USA TODAY, 9/30).
