Cowboys' New Frisco Development Taking Shape, On Schedule For Fall '16 Opening

The Cowboys' new development, known as the Star in Frisco, "is starting to take shape," according to Brian Gosset of the FT. WORTH STAR-TELEGRAM. The development will be home to Cowboys HQ, "a 12,000-seat multi-use event center, Omni hotel and wide range of mixed-use elements." Florida-based Manhattan Construction, the development's primary builder, said that the projects "remain on schedule at the halfway point" despite record rainfall this year. The projects are expected to be open by fall '16. The Star in Frisco is a 25-year agreement with a $150M "public investment," with $90M "going toward the multi-use event center" and $25M for the HQ. Spanning 435,000 square feet, the Cowboys HQ "has grown from a two-building, four-story structure to one six-story building centered around a floor-to-ceiling atrium." There will also be "two practice fields, likely one grass and one turf." The Cowboys will move to Frisco from their Valley Ranch HQ in Irving "next August." Cowboys COO & Exec VP Stephen Jones said that the "majority of future training camps will be in Frisco, but not all." The agreement "calls for the team to host at least one week of training camp per year in Frisco" (FT. WORTH STAR-TELEGRAM, 8/3).
