New Balance Signs Milos Raonic To Long-Term Deal, Brings Back Wimbledon Promotions
New Balance has re-signed eighth-ranked tennis player Milos Raonic, describing the new deal as lasting through his whole career and beyond. The brand today unveiled the deal at Queens Club in London, where the ATP Aegon Championships are being played. New Balance began branching into tennis when it signed Raonic in ‘13. New Balance GM of Tennis Bruce Schilling said, “Tennis is the best global platform for our industry.” Raonic is represented by CAA Sports. New Balance during Wimbledon last year rented a house along the well-traveled roadway leading to the grounds, and among other activities handed out Raonic bobbleheads. Schilling noted the All-England Club confiscated the bobbleheads from patrons entering the grounds. The AEC last year told THE DAILY during Wimbledon that it frowned upon New Balance’s promotion and the rented house, in front of which the company had a serving booth. Babolat is the official sneaker of Wimbledon. Schilling said New Balance plans a similar effort this year, but he declined to offer details. He did say that he had never heard from the AEC about any issues, and would approach them to ease any concerns.
