The Life Of Riley: Nebraska Sells Majority Of Remaining Football Season Tickets

The Univ. of Nebraska by yesterday afternoon had sold "nearly all" of the almost 1,500 football season tickets for '15 that remained, according to the Lincoln JOURNAL STAR. There remains a "limited number of single-season tickets scattered throughout Memorial Stadium" that are available online (JOURNALSTAR.com, 6/16). In Lincoln, Brian Christopherson reported most of the remaining season tickets are still available due to a "change in the number of tickets provided to visiting team's fans." NU Senior Associate AD/Marketing & Communications David Witty said the ticket renewal rate for this season was more than 95%, which is "consistent with where we've been in the last decade." Witty did not specify the "exact number of the roughly 8,000 allotted student tickets sold." However, he did say that sales "are ahead of last year's pace." Christopherson noted tickets will "continue to be sold at summer events such as New Student Enrollment." There also will be student events in August that "haven't been held in recent years that Witty thinks should further engage the student body and help with sales." NU's 340-game consecutive sellout streak, the longest in the nation, remains "of high value to a fan base that has seen other Husker streaks from past eras end" (Lincoln JOURNAL STAR, 6/16). ESPN.com's Brian Bennett noted the "curiosity factor" of new coach Mike Riley could sell some tickets. Witty noted that the home schedule "is attractive, beginning with the first-ever meeting against BYU and featuring Wisconsin, Michigan State and Iowa" (ESPN.com, 6/16).
