MLBAM At Bat Mobile App To Be Available On Dashboard Touchscreens In Some Cars

MLBAM will have a sharply heightened presence in cars through the introduction of support for Google’s Android Auto and Apple’s CarPlay, which each deliver digital services inside of vehicles. Chevrolet and Hyundai are among the first auto manufacturers to take advantage of both platforms, while Apple is partnered with more than two dozen brands for CarPlay. MLBAM’s At Bat mobile application will be available on dashboard touchscreens. At Bat was updated earlier this week to include full support for CarPlay, nearly a year after an initial demonstration of the dashboard integration at Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference. Android Auto, meanwhile, is expected to be available with ’16 car models arriving this summer. Streaming game audio, as opposed to video, is the dominant focus of the in-car version of At Bat. MLBAM earlier this week also updated its online media player to offer video streams directly within an existing browser rather than prior versions that launched a new window.
