Marketplace Roundup

In Philadelphia, Brian Wilson noted Pennsylvania-based retailer Schuylkill Valley Sports is “now offering jersey insurance” for customers who “buy an NFL player's jersey and that player is then traded or gone from the team within 18-months.” The insurance costs $10, and if the customer brings back the receipt from the jersey sale, they will “still keep” the jersey, but “can then buy another one for half price.” The deal “doesn't include retired or injured players, and it applies just to the jerseys of NFL players at Schuylkill Valley Sports” (MYFOXPHILLY.com, 5/1).

SMALL WONDER: The AP’s Joyce Rosenberg noted software developer Intuit is “planning its second competition in which small companies will vie for a 30-second spot in Super Bowl 50.” The contest begins June 1, and the submissions will be "voted on by the public and Intuit employees.” GoldieBlox VP/Sales & Marketing Lindsey Shepard, whose company won the first contest, said that the toy maker “saw its sales soar” after it won and had an ad in the ‘14 Super Bowl. The commercial for the contest-winning company “will be created” by RPA (AP, 5/3).

HEAD & SHOULDERS: MLL on Friday announced a renewed and expanded partnership with equipment manufacturers Warrior and Brine for the ’15 season. The deal marks the continuation of the companies as MLL’s official equipment suppliers. It is the first time Warrior has supplied helmets to the league (MLL).
