NBA Sets Record For Average Season Attendance; Hawks Up 21% At Philips Arena

The NBA averaged 17,826 fans per game during the '14-15 regular season, marking a new record for the league. The previous record was set in '06-07 with 17,757 fans. NBA teams also had 700 sellouts, passing the previous record of 676 sellouts from 20 seasons ago. The Bulls led all teams in average attendance for the sixth straight season with 21,866. The last time the team did not lead was in '08-09, when the Pistons took the top spot. Fueled by a surprising run to the No. 1 spot in the Eastern Conference, the Hawks led NBA teams in gains at the gate, up 21% at Philips Arena. Also seeing double-digit percentage gains were the Hornets, Cavaliers and Bucks. Only one team -- the Nuggets -- had a double-digit percentage decline (-13%). Attendance for home games at Pepsi Center was 14,700 per game, marking the Nuggets' lowest figure since they moved into the venue prior to the '99-'00 season (THE DAILY).
