Freddie Jacobson Using PGA Tour Event To Launch Three Microbrew Brands

Golfer Freddie Jacobson is using this week's PGA Tour Honda Classic "to launch three brands" made by Florida-based Golf Beer Brewing Company that are "named for Jacobson and two of his closest friends on the Tour, Graeme McDowell and Keegan Bradley," according to Garry Smits of the FLORIDA TIMES-UNION. The McDowell brand "is a Celtic style Pale Ale, the Bradley is a New England style lager and the Jacobson brew is a Scandinavian Style Blonde Ale." Jacobson said that the beers "are now available in ABC, Total Wine and Whole Foods throughout the state of Florida," and his team is "working with the PGA Tour to possibly have the beer available at the TPC Sawgrass." Jacobson "did a little research and found that there have been 52 PGA Tour players who have lent their names to brand wine, or are actively involved with a vineyard." He said, "I don't want to drink wine while I play golf. You look for a cold beer" (JACKSONVILLE.com, 2/26).

KANE COUNTY IS ABLE: In Chicago, Chris Sosa reported the Single-A Midwest League Kane County Cougars have unveiled Raging Cougar ale as the name of their new "specialty craft beer," making the D-backs farm club the "first minor-league baseball team with its own branded beer." The ale was created in collaboration with Two Brothers Brewing. It will be available at Fifth Third Bank Ballpark in Geneva, Ill., as well as Two Brothers' Chicago-area facilities and the D-backs' Chase Field (REDEYECHICAGO.com, 2/26).
