Jags' Tony Khan Buys Analytics Firm TruMedia Networks, Launches Emerging Tech Accelerator

Jaguars Senior VP/Football Technology & Analytics Tony Khan has purchased Massachusetts-based sports analytics firm TruMedia Networks. The deal that follows a Series A venture funding round for the company that Khan led in late ’13. The purchase is slated to be formally announced at this weekend's MIT Sloan Sports Analytics Conference in Boston and is coupled with Khan's creation of a new business accelerator -- base 10 -- that will focus on emerging tech. Financial terms were not disclosed, but the deal expands a relationship between Khan and TruMedia that began nearly roughly three years ago when the Jaguars became a client. Khan: “I have always been passionate about sports analytics, and this acquisition, and the formation of base10, allows me to continue exploring in-depth data analysis solutions and finding new and better ways to utilize data.” These transitions are not tied to the Jaguars or Khan's father, Jaguars Owner Shahid Khan. TruMedia President & CEO Rafe Anderson will stay on in that role and also serve as base10 GM. Anderson said, “Tony has provided us with an incredible opportunity to accelerate the business and bring our customers an even more robust suite of software and services." TruMedia works with an array of teams across baseball, football and soccer, as well as several sports media entities.
