MetLife Stadium Named Highest-Grossing Venue Worldwide In Billboard's Annual List

MetLife Stadium "has been named the highest-grossing stadium in the world," according to an annual Billboard list cited by Bobby Olivier of the Newark STAR-LEDGER. The ranking "takes into account non-NFL events, which for MetLife meant music concerts, international soccer matches and college and high school football" between November '13 and '14. Last February's Seahawks-Broncos Super Bowl "was not factored into the ranking." The stadium grossed more than $71M in that time period, "enough to top" Billboard's list for the fourth time in the last five years. Joining MetLife Stadium in "rounding out the top five" for '14 were the Tokyo Dome in Japan; Etihad Stadium in Melbourne, Australia; Gillette Stadium; and AT&T Stadium. MetLife "hosted 22 non-NFL events" in late '13 and '14 -- "more than double all other venues in the top 10 minus Foro Sol in Mexico City" (Newark STAR-LEDGER, 1/7).

The chart below lists the top 10 gross incomes by venue during the aforementioned time period.
