Canadian Golf Phenom Henderson Turns Pro, Signs With WME-IMG For Representation

Seventeen-year-old Canadian golfer Brooke Henderson "is going pro" and has signed with WME-IMG for representation, according to Rachel Brady of the GLOBE & MAIL. Henderson is Canada’s "most promising female golfer and a likely headliner for the country when golf returns to the Olympics" in '16. She made the cut in all four of her LPGA events this year and "sky-rocketed to the No. 1 spot in the world amateur rankings." She was the "runner-up at the U.S Amateur Championship, and the low amateur at the U.S Women’s Open." WME-IMG Global Head of Golf Guy Kinnings in a statement said, "Brooke's tremendous talent on the golf course is exceeded only by her positive and engaging personality." WME-IMG’s stable of female golfers also includes Michelle Wie, Christie Kerr, Paula Creamer, Lydia Ko and Minjee Lee (GLOBE & MAIL, 12/19). In Ottawa, Chris Hofley notes Henderson "will continue to be sponsored by Golf Canada." Henderson "has also signed" with Ping, and on Thursday was given Twitter and Instagram handles, along with a new Facebook page. She also has a "starring spot in a cute -- if somewhat cheesy -- video" with the Senators. The clip, "released as part of Henderson's big 'I’m turning pro' announcement, featured Brooke and sister Brittany strolling in the Canadian Tire Centre." In the next scene, Senators D Mark Borowiecki "is asking Henderson, a former goaltender, if she’s ready for practice" (OTTAWA SUN, 12/19).
