Overnight Ratings: CBS Doubleheader Leads College Football Over The Weekend

CBS’ SEC doubleheader topped all college football windows in Week 11, with Alabama’s OT win over LSU in primetime on Saturday leading the way with a 5.3 overnight rating. However, Alabama-LSU had competition from Ohio State-Michigan State in primetime on ABC (4.2 overnight), and CBS’ rating was down 23% compared to a 6.9 last year. That ’13 Alabama-LSU matchup also was in primetime, but only had to compete with a lower-rated Notre Dame-Pitt matchup on ABC (1.9 overnight). Meanwhile, CBS drew a 4.5 overnight for Texas A&M’s upset win over Auburn in the 3:30pm ET window, up 45% from a 3.1 for Mississippi State-Texas A&M in the same window last year. Over on ESPN, the net’s top overnight for a CFB game was a 1.9 rating earned by both the Georgia-Kentucky matchup in the 12:00pm window and Oregon-Utah in the late primetime window.

The chart below lists overnight ratings from weekend sports telecasts on broadcast TV.
