Impact Owner Joey Saputo on Thursday said that he is "part of a group of investors" whose offer to buy Italian Serie B club Bologna "was accepted" by the team's BOD. The CP noted the investment group "is led by" N.Y. attorney Joe Tacopina, who resigned as vice-chairman of Serie A club AS Roma "to pursue Bologna." Reports in Italy said that the investors "will inject" C$8.4M "immediately in the money-losing club" and another C$8.9M by the end of the season (CP, 10/9).

MILE-HIGH MOVES: MLB.com's Tracy Ringolsby reported Rockies Exec VP, Chief Baseball Officer & GM Dan O'Dowd resigned Wednesday after telling team Owner Dick Monfort "thanks but no thanks" to a multiyear contract extension. MUSIC CITY MUSINGS: In Nashville, Dave Ammenheuser notes the Triple-A PCL Sounds on Thursday unveiled a new primary logo, and the public reaction "is mixed." The logo is part of the team's "re-branding as it moves to First Tennessee Park." The Sounds are the "first professional sports team to use Neon Orange in its color scheme" (Nashville TENNESSEAN, 10/10).

THE KING'S NEW CLOAK: In Cleveland, Joey Morona noted blue the Cavaliers on Thursday "unveiled a new alternate jersey for the upcoming season," and the new navy jerseys "are similar, but not identical to the ones worn on a special 'CavFanatic' night back on March 18, 2012." The Cavs "will wear the new jerseys" opening night, Oct. 30 against the Knicks. The team "now has four uniform sets" (CLEVELAND.com, 10/9).
