Media Notes

The HOLLYWOOD REPORTER’s Nicole Pajer reported singer Carrie Underwood is "back to kick off" the '14 season of NBC's "Sunday Night Football" after her "sassy rendition of 'Waiting All Day for Sunday Night'" last year. Although the song "will be the same, this latest version is a bit fresher." Underwood said, "This year, they were going for a roaming party-concert -- lots of lights and they wanted it to feel really high energy." The NFLers "set to appear" in the intro to "SNF" include Broncos QB Peyton Manning, Giants QB Eli Manning, Ravens LB Terrell Suggs, Texans DE J.J. Watt, Seahawks QB Russell Wilson and 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick (HOLLYWOODREPORTER.com, 6/30).

AUDIO JAM: In Charlotte, Jim Utter reported every NASCAR race that TNT has aired this year has “included audio problems that have raised the ire of fans.” Saturday night’s broadcast of the Sprint Cup Series Quaker State 400 “included the same audio issues but also included a video disruption.” Utter: "One time is an accident, twice a problem that needs to be addressed. Five times? Unacceptable” (CHARLOTTEOBSERVER.com, 6/29).

TOUCH OF GREY: ESPN last week announced a multiyear deal to air CFL games, including the Grey Cup, and Senior VP/Programming Acquisitions Burke Magnus said that the net is “seriously considering a full-blown production" of the championship game "using ESPN talent onsite.” Magnus: “We are absolutely looking into it. I can’t tell you where it will end up, but we would very much like to do that” (SI.com, 6/30).
