A subsidiary of International Speedway Corp. has "purchased the Suburban Extended Stay hotel on Bill France Boulevard" in Daytona Beach -- close to ISC’s planned One Daytona mixed-use development. Volusia County (Fla.) property records show that the subsidiary "bought the hotel" for $4M in a transaction that closed April 22. The hotel is "the second piece of property ISC has purchased" near the proposed $800M development in the past few years. Daytona Int'l Speedway Senior Dir of PR LENNY SANTIAGO wrote in an email that hotel "isn’t currently part of the One Daytona development and it’s too early to speculate on future plans for the property" (Daytona Beach NEWS-JOURNAL, 5/9).
BOOK SHELF: In Boston, Bill Nowlin reviews author CLAUDIA WILLIAMS' new book about her father, late Baseball HOFer TED WILLIAMS. The book is a "forthright, uncompromising but loving memoir."
