Without Sufficient Sponsorship Sales, Swan Racing Sells Rights To Two Sprint Cup Cars

NASCAR Sprint Cup Series team Swan Racing "has sold off the assets" of its two cars, leaving driver Parker Kligerman "without a ride" for this weekend's Toyota Owners 400 at Richmond Int'l Raceway, according to Bob Pockrass of SPORTING NEWS. As part of the deal, Swan Minority Owner Anthony Marlowe "obtained rights to the Swan Racing No. 26 car and merged with BK Racing, bringing driver Cole Whitt and that crew to what will now be a three-car BK Racing stable." Xxxtreme Motorsports Owner John Cohen, whose team "has attempted two races this year, bought the Swan Racing No. 30 team." It "will absorb many of the crew members including crew chief Steve Lane but will replace" Kligerman with Xxxtreme driver JJ Yeley. Swan "fielded two cars through the first eight weeks of the season before announcing last week that it did not have the funding to continue competing." Swan Owner Brandon Davis said that he "still has Kligerman under contract and is working to find him a ride" (SPORTINGNEWS.com, 4/23). NBCSPORTS.com's Jerry Bonkowski noted in addition to Marlowe, Swan "had two other minority investors" in former NFLer Bill Romanowski and rapper 50 Cent (NBCSPORTS.com, 4/23).
