Lakers On-Court Struggles Produce Lowest RSN Ratings In Franchise History

The audience for Lakers games on Time Warner Cable SportsNet took a “dramatic tumble this season," as the team's 2.15 local rating in L.A. marks what "is believed to be a new low for the franchise,” according to Joe Flint of the L.A. TIMES. The previous low was a 2.71 rating for the '04-05 season on FS West. Meanwhile, Clippers games on FS West during the '13-14 regular season averaged a 1.27 rating, down from a 1.57 rating last season (LATIMES.com, 4/16). VARIETY’s Rick Kissell noted the Lakers' decline has “only grown as the season progressed" as the team "had one losing month after another and ended up winning fewer than one third of its games.” The Lakers’ average rating was “tracking 38% lower in January and 49% by the middle of March” (VARIETY.com, 4/16).
