Gotham Gatherings: Super Bowl XLVIII Parties Wrap Up Around N.Y.

With Super Bowl XLVIII festivities wrapping up around N.Y. and New Jersey, THE DAILY looks back at the parties and the people that generated buzz around the Big Apple.

BLUEPRINT FOR A BASH? DirecTV's Celebrity Beach Bowl on Saturday featured JAY Z and BEYONCE performing together "for 6,000 guests at what showbiz insiders say was the most expensive Super Bowl party ever." The crowd, which included PAUL MCCARTNEY, LEONARDO DICAPRIO and JAMIE FOXX, "went wild when Bey joined him onstage to perform 'Drunk in Love.'" Sources said that the couple and DJ TIESTO "commanded more than" $2M for the show, which took place at "a specially constructed 88,000-square-foot stadium at Pier 40 on Manhattan's West Side." The cost "was offset by sponsorship" from MARK CUBAN’s Axs TV and Bank of America. Also in attendance were MACKLEMORE, Yankees P CC SABATHIA, Tigers P JUSTIN VERLANDER, skier LINDSEY VONN, BARBARA and JENNA BUSH, MICHAEL B. JORDAN, HAYDEN PANETTIERE, and TOM ARNOLD. Jay Z and Beyonce later "celebrated at the 40/40 Club at the Roc Nation Sports and Airbnb celebration" along with Sabathia, Mets P MATT HARVEY and Jets QB GENO SMITH. Earlier in the day, DirecTV's Beach Bowl flag football game included AARON PAUL, JOHN LEGEND, NINA DOBREV, DR. OZ, SERENA WILLIAMS, MARIA MENOUNOS, TRACY MORGAN, former NFLers TONY GONZALEZ, LADAINIAN TOMLINSON, AMANI TOOMER, and JON RITCHIE, ESPN's DESMOND HOWARD, Bears WR BRANDON MARSHALL, Pro Football HOFers JOE MONTANA and WARREN MOON, ESPN's JESSE PALMER and NFL Network's DEION SANDERS (N.Y. POST, 2/2). The DirecTV party was essentially "Ibiza by the Hudson" (NYTIMES.com, 2/2).

SCENE & HEARD: At Friday night's Pacers-Nets game at Barclays Center, BILL CLINTON had courtside seats and "even tweeted a selfie from the arena" (N.Y. POST, 2/2)....BILL MURRAY “mugged it up with Fox Sports mascot Cleatus at the network’s pre-Super Bowl bash with Time Warner Cable” (N.Y. POST, 2/1)....MITT ROMNEY on Saturday was spotted with his wife, ANN, having brunch at Sarabeth's on Central Park South. Sources said that a table away from Romney was FS1's RANDY MOSS alongside Lagardere Unlimited agent JOEL SEGAL (N.Y. POST, 2/2)....Romney also was “on hand at the NFL Honors" on Saturday (NJ.com, 2/2)....ADAM RICHMAN, ANDREW ZIMMERN, COMMON, GAYLE KING and JESSE JACKSON were among those in attendance at Taste of the NFL’s "Party with a Purpose" on Saturday (THE DAILY)....NFL agent LEIGH STEINBERG hosted a charity bash on Saturday to benefit the Lone Survivor Fund. In addition to Steinberg and military servicemen and women, guests included KEVIN COSTNER, Pro Football HOFer STEVE YOUNG and former NFLer TORRY HOLT (THE DAILY)....Justin Verlander and KATE UPTON "looked very much together" at Friday's GQ Super Bowl Party at the Boom Boom Room. Also in attendance were Matt Harvey, Macklemore, Aaron Paul, ANDY COHEN, ASHLEY GREENE, Heat F CHRIS BOSH, TERRY CREWS, Fox' ERIN ANDREWS, 49ers QB COLIN KAEPERNICK, Pro Football HOFer JERRY RICE, Giants WR VICTOR CRUZ and Jets C NICK MANGOLD (N.Y. POST, 2/2)....ALEC BALDWIN hosted the 5th annual Big Game Big Give at the Tribeca Roof Top (WALL STREET JOURNAL, 2/3)....Panthers QB CAM NEWTON and Eagles RB LESEAN MCCOY on Friday “emerged from the field" to face off in the finals of Madden Bowl XX. McCoy's Seahawks beat Newton's 49ers (WSJ.com, 1/31).

SORRY FOR PARTY ROCKING
: Paul McCartney and his wife, NANCY SHEVELL, attended Saturday's Revolt event at Time Warner Cable Studios and "rocked out in the VIP box." Also in the VIP were Kevin Costner, Hayden Panettiere, MARY J. BLIGE, RYAN PHILLIPPE, TONY DANZA and KATIE COURIC (N.Y. POST, 2/3). Also at the Revolt event was DRAKE, who was "photographed wearing a shirt" with former Texas A&M QB JOHNNY MANZIEL's likeness (NFL.com, 2/2)....The NFL Official Tailgate Party on Sunday included performances by PHILLIP PHILLIPS and THE BAND PERRY (Newark STAR-LEDGER, 2/3)....JUSTIN BIEBER was among the guests at Saturday's Leather & Laces party at the Liberty Theatre hosted by ALESSANDRA AMBROSIO and ADRIANA LIMA. He “arrived after 3am on Sunday morning.” On Friday night Bieber had “rolled into the Maxim party with an entourage of 20 and took a private VIP booth” (N.Y. POST, 2/2)....BAR REFAELI and KELLAN LUTZ “looked extremely cozy” at the Leather & Laces party. Also attending the Robert Graham-sponsored event were FS1’s ANDY RODDICK, BROOKLYN DECKER, JAMES MARSDEN and PARIS HILTON, “who acted as DJ for two hours” (N.Y. POST, 2/2)....Maxim’s annual “Big Game Weekend” party on Saturday drew BOW WOW, STEVEN TYLER and "more models than you could shake a Louboutin heel at" (NJ.com, 2/2).

DON'T GLAZE ME BRO: At Time Warner Cable Super Bowl party on Thursday, Fox' JAY GLAZER "became infuriated that one reporter asking him questions had no clue who he was." When the reporter said that he did not know who it was on the red carpet, Glazer reportedly replied, "Well f--- you. ... Don't blame the PR people just because you're not prepared" (N.Y. DAILY NEWS, 2/2).
