Calvin Johnson, Richard Sherman See Increased Jersey Sales On NFLShop.com

Broncos QB Peyton Manning continued to lead player jersey sales on NFLShop.com through Jan. 19, while Seahawks QB Russell Wilson passed 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick for No. 2 on the list. QBs occupied the top five spots on the list, with the Patriots’ Tom Brady at No. 4 and Saints’ Drew Brees at No. 5. Seahawks RB Marshawn Lynch ranked No. 6, which is up from the No. 11 spot when rankings were released in the middle of December. After not cracking the top 25 during most of the season, Lions WR Calvin Johnson moved up to No. 13 through Jan. 19. Seahawks CB Richard Sherman also moved up on the list. Sherman was No. 19 through the middle of December, and is now at No. 10. That is the highest ranking among all NFL defensive players. Three players -- Ravens RB Ray Rice, 49ers RB Frank Gore and Cowboys DE DeMarcus Ware -- dropped off the top 25 list since the middle of December. Joining the top 25 were Broncos WR Wes Welker, Panthers QB Cam Newton and Johnson (Austin Karp, Assistant Managing Editor). ESPN.com’s Darren Rovell noted “no Seahawks player has finished the season in the top 10 since the league began collecting data for its best-selling jerseys” in ’01. Wilson and Lynch “finished last year’s best-selling jerseys list at No. 14 and No. 15, respectively” (ESPN.com, 1/21).
