Patrick Discusses GoDaddy Marketing In Q&A With N.Y. Times Magazine

NASCAR driver Danica Patrick discussed her marketing in a Q&A with Amy Chozick of the N.Y. TIMES MAGAZINE, saying of her critics, "When the marketing is heavy, people are quick to say that they didn’t earn it or they’re not any good. I’m just myself, and if people are curious about it, I’m flattered -- and that is great for my sponsors, and that’s part of why they come on board." Patrick said of her ads with GoDaddy, "In the past we’ve done things that have been polarizing, but GoDaddy is a growing company, and I think a lot of the things that we did created a ton of brand awareness. Now they have that awareness, they can tell people what they do." Patrick said of the chances of her doing another GoDaddy ad with her painting on a naked model, "I can’t promise anything, but I don’t see that in the near future, no." Patrick when asked to define her brand said, "When I joined up with IMG Worldwide back in 2009, we came up with a slogan: 'A beautiful revolution.' It’s about being feminine but unique and different and kind of blazing a trail." Patrick said of whether she hears from fans who wish she did not work with GoDaddy, "No, I think that fans stand behind their driver" (N.Y. TIMES MAGAZINE, 12/1 issue).
