BMO Harris Bradley Center Opposes Locating Proposed Strip Club Near Arena

The BMO Harris Bradley Center BOD on Thursday "approved a resolution" to oppose locating a strip club near the arena, according to Don Walker of the MILWAUKEE JOURNAL SENTINEL. The resolution stated the Silk Exotic club would "adversely affect the neighborhood and its perception by customers, tenants and sponsors, create concern and discomfort for many who must walk by it to attend center events, and make it more difficult for the center to attract special events." Downtown Silk MKE LLC is "seeking tavern and public entertainment licenses for the vacant 8,800-square-foot restaurant and bar space." The BOD's resolution was "sent to the city" of Milwaukee. Arena President & CEO Steve Costello in an accompanying letter suggested there should be other neighborhoods in the city where "such adverse effects would not be as significant." Costello noted that 1.5 million people "attend BMO Harris Bradley Center events every year." The Bucks, AHL Milwaukee Admirals and Marquette Univ., which "leases the arena for its men's basketball program, also are expected to express opposition to the proposal." Downtown Silk MKE LLC said that the club "would be open seven days a week, and open until 2:30 a.m. Friday and Saturday nights" (MILWAUKEE JOURNAL SENTINEL, 11/22).
