Overnight Ratings: Miami-Florida State Leads College Football; Breeders' Cup Down

A highly-anticipated Miami-Florida State matchup was the most-watched college football game of the weekend. ABC drew a 5.4 overnight for the primetime game, up 184% from Oklahoma State-Kansas State in Week 10 last year. CBS' Georgia-Florida game was the top afternoon college game on Saturday, drawing a 3.4 overnight, which was just ahead of the 3.3 for Michigan-Michigan State game on ABC. However, the Georgia-Florida matchup is down 26% from the same game on CBS last year (aired on week earlier). The '13 Georgia-Florida telecast is up 70% from Georgia-Ole Miss in Week 10 last season. ESPN’s top college games for the weekend were Illinois-Penn State and Tennessee-Missouri, which both drew a 1.3 overnight.

HORSE FEATHERS: NBC drew a 1.4 overnight rating for the Breeders' Cup Classic from 8:00-9:00pm ET on Saturday. Last year's event, which had a lead-in from the triple OT Pitt-Notre Dame game that went right up until the start of the telecast, drew a 2.2 overnight. Navy-Notre Dame aired on NBC on Saturday from 3:30-7:00pm.

NOTES: ESPN drew a 2.3 overnight for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race from Texas Motor Speedway yesterday, down from a 2.5 rating for the same race last year. ESPN also drew a 2.0 overnight for its opening NBA doubleheader on Friday night, which featured Heat-Nets and Spurs-Lakers. That figure marks the net's third-best season-opening NBA doubleheader ever (excluding Christmas Day doubleheader in '11-12 due to lockout).
