The Legacy Agency named former Blues CEO MIKE MCCARTHY Head of Media Consulting (Legacy). In this week's SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL, John Ourand notes McCarthy will "target teams, leagues and properties that need to develop strategies around their media rights." He also will "oversee production and content creation," and plans to "land on-air talent for the agency to represent." McCarthy will be based in Legacy's N.Y. offices and report to CEO MIKE PRINCIPE. McCarthy since the beginning of '13 has been co-Chair of TV production company Manhattan Place Entertainment, "a position he will keep" (SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL, 8/5 issue).

LEAVING THE NEWSROOM: Longtime AP sports journalists TERRY TAYLOR and JOHN AFFLECK will leave the organization. Taylor has been with the AP for 36 years, the last 21 as Sports Editor, and will retire effective Nov. 15. Affleck has been with the AP for 22 years, most recently serving as Deputy Sports Editor, and is leaving effective Aug. 15 to take over as Knight Chair in Sports Journalism & Society at Penn State Univ. (THE DAILY).

EXECS: Universal Sports named GameFly GM of Media & Mobile EDWARD DERSE to the newly created position of Senior VP/Digital Media & Strategic Partnerships (Universal Sports)....IMG Senior VP & Dir of Global Business Development MICHAEL BROWN has resigned his position, effective Friday. He will take on the role of PGA Tour VP/Business Development, beginning Aug. 19 and working out of N.Y. (THE DAILY)....UConn named NCAA Associate Dir of Enforcement ANGIE CRETORS Senior Associate AD/NCAA Rules Education & Compliance Services (UConn). Cretors "takes away another load of institutional knowledge" from the NCAA offices, as her exit comes on the heels of the departure of NCAA Managing Dir of Enforcement/Development & Investigation RACHEL NEWMAN BAKER (CBSSPORTS.com, 8/5)....The Blues named Penguins Senior VP/Operations & Booking JAY ROBERTS to the same position, and promoted KEVIN CASEY to Guest Services Manager (Blues)....ESPN Boston's MIKE RODAK this week begins "running his own show as the blogger" for the Bills on ESPN.com's AFC East blog (BOSTONSPORTSMEDIA.com, 8/2).
