Attorney Mike Glazier Tops List Of Most Influential In Oregon Sports

Kansas-based attorney MIKE GLAZIER topped a list of the most influential figures in Oregon sports after he was hired by the Univ. of Oregon as its "legal point man during the NCAA investigation into the Ducks football program," according to John Canzano of the Portland OREGONIAN. Glazier's firm "billed Oregon more than $200,000," and while UO "faced serious penalties, it avoided a bowl ban, further damage to the brand, and a loss of millions of dollars in revenue for itself and the Pac-12." Glazier is "known in college circles as 'The Cleaner' for his work helping universities work through dicey NCAA investigations." He has an "impeccable reputation," so hiring him "while the brand program was teetering was a brilliant tactic." Without Glazier's "credibility, guidance and influence, Oregon might not have skipped away from its NCAA troubles with little more than probation." It is why Glazier "commands $330 an hour" (Portland OREGONIAN, 7/14).
