Patriots Owner ROBERT KRAFT last week "received the Medal of Excellence Award" from Carnegie Hall at a benefit at N.Y.’s Waldorf Astoria. Former Citi Chair & CEO SANDY WEILL presented the award. On hand were Patriots QB TOM BRADY, LB JEROD MAYO, DT VINCE WILFORK, former NFLer ANDRE TIPPETT and Kraft's girlfriend RICKI LANDER (BOSTON GLOBE, 6/15). CNBC's Maria Bartiromo noted Kraft received the award for his "contribution to arts and culture." Kraft noted the event last Thursday night raised $5M, which "broke the record." Kraft: "It's important to me. I picked Carnegie Hall as the area that I wanted to be involved in and they're wonderful people involved there" ("Closing Bell with Maria Bartiromo," CNBC, 6/14).

GIRL POWER:'s Andrea Adelson profiled FAU Dir of Football Operations HEATHER HENDERSON, who is becoming "one of a handful of women across all football levels to hold the job." Henderson said, "I know I'm going to do a good job. I'm going to work hard. There are people that aren't happy that I'm in this position, but there are a lot of people that are very happy I'm in this position" (, 6/14).

AMERICAN PRIDE: NBC's Kevin Tibbles profiled JIM CORNELISON and RENE RANCOURT, who sing the National Anthem prior to Blackhawks and Bruins games, respectively. Cornelison said, "This is as close to being a rock star as an opera singer is ever going to get." Rancourt, who has been a part of Bruins games for close to 40 years, said, "I imagine that I'm in an opera house, and it's a great thrill each time." Tibbles noted Rancourt is so popular among Bruins fans that "many purchase T-shirts to look just like him" ("Today," NBC, 6/15).

WIDE SCREEN: A new documentary about Eagles WR DESEAN JACKSON was made available yesterday for Father's Day on inDemand. The film, titled "DESEAN JACKSON: THE MAKING OF A FATHER'S DREAM," is "compiled from thousands of hours of footage taken by his brother, BYRON JACKSON, since Jackson was a child." The documentary is "as much about his father and the way DeSean was raised." A screening was held Friday at St. Joseph's Univ. (PHILADELPHIA INQUIRER, 6/16).

AWARDS & HONORS: The WNBA Fever on Friday presented PRESIDENT OBAMA with a personalized jersey at a White House reception honoring the team’s title in '12. Obama said, “The WNBA generally inspires a lot of young people.” He also acknowledged the team’s “involvement with their community.” The Fever have received 13 WNBA Community Assist Awards. After the reception, the team “participated in a basketball clinic on the South Lawn of the White House for area children” (, 6/14)....Univ. of Tennessee women’s basketball coach emeritus PAT SUMMITT was named winner of the Keith Jackson Eternal Flame Award, an honor given annually by the College Sports Information Directors of America to an “individual or organization that has made a lasting contribution to college athletics” (AP, 6/14)....Penguins GM RAY SHERO on Friday was named NHL GM of the Year (NHL).

NAMES: A “few dozen” members of the Mavericks organization on Saturday traveled to West, Texas, and “brought smiles to the residents who experienced the fertilizer plant explosion on April 17.” The team “staged basketball clinics for folks of all ages” (FT. WORTH STAR-TELEGRAM, 6/16)….Dolphins WR MIKE WALLACE on Friday visited Miami City Hall to be “officially welcomed to town” by Mayor Tomas Regalado.
