MLS Seeing Attendance Down Nearly 8%; Impact, Chivas USA Down Sharply At Home

MLS teams are averaging 16,890 fans per game through May 9, down around 8% from the same period last season. MLS finished last year with a league-record average of 18,807. Sounders FC continues to lead all clubs with 39,157 fans per game, up just over 1%. During its second season in MLS, the Impact are seeing a 26% drop at the gate. The sharpest decline belongs to Chivas USA, whose attendance at Home Depot Center is down 38% to date. Also seeing double-digit percentage declines are the Fire and Earthquakes. The Revolution are seeing the biggest increase at the gate, up 25% at Gillette Stadium. FC Dallas also is seeing a double-digit percentage gain, up 14% to date. Listed below is team-by-team attendance for MLS clubs through May 9, with comparisons to the same period last season (THE DAILY).
