Golfer ERNIE ELS and the Els For Autism Foundation will build a $30M "epicenter for autism research, transition and treatment" in the Limestone Creek area near Jupiter, Fla. Plans submitted to Palm Beach County "call for a 100,000-square-foot school and resource center for 300 students with autism on a 27-acre parcel." Plans also "call for opening of the Palm Beach County charter school by the end of 2014." It would be the "first charter school in the country for children with autism to offer education from first grade through high school, followed by transition to adulthood." Els' son, BEN, was diagnosed with autism in '08 (PALM BEACH POST, 3/6).
JOHNNY BE GOOD: Texas A&M QB JOHNNY MANZIEL yesterday "confirmed" that his family is "in the process of securing an insurance policy in case an injury were to prevent him from playing pro football." Manziel said that his parents "are handling it and he's unaware of how much the policy will be worth."
