EPL club Manchester City named former La Liga club FC Barcelona VP FERRAN SORIANO CEO, replacing GARRY COOK. Soriano will begin Sept. 1. Man City had enlisted corporate headhunter Odgers to find Cook's replacement for the US$3.14M per year position. Soriano is a "highly respected and well-connected figure in football's corridors of power," having served on FC Barcelona's board from '03-08. He also represented FC Barcelona "on UEFA's European Club Forum and served on the competitions committee of the Champions League" (LONDON TIMES, 8/17).

EXECS: Univision Communications named KEITH TURNER President of Advertising Sales & Marketing effective Sept. 4. Turner was most recently Senior VP/Media Sales & Sponsorship at the NFL and replaced DAVID LAWENDA, who stepped down. He will be based in N.Y. and will report to Univision President & CEO RANDY FALCO (Univision)....Arizona State Univ. promoted Senior Associate AD/Communications ROCKY HARRIS to Senior Associate AD/External Relations (ASU)....The Cavaliers named KOBY ALTMAN Pro Personnel Manager. Altman comes from Columbia Univ., where he served as an assistant coach (CLEVELAND.com, 8/15)....Fox Networks Group President DAVID HASLINGDEN announced he is leaving the company (LATIMES.com, 8/15)....The AFL New Orleans VooDoo named GARY GUSSMAN interim GM (NOLA.com, 8/15)....The USFL named former NFLer LINCOLN KENNEDY to its board of advisors (USFL)....Lakeland College named Pro Football HOFer KELLEN WINSLOW AD.
