Smart TV Users Say ESPN, MLB.com Among "Must Have" Apps

ESPN and MLB.com are among the “must have” smart TV apps among those who already own a smart or internet-connected TV, according to a Harris Poll done in May. The poll was conducted online among 2,634 U.S. adults. Twenty-one percent (21%) of respondents said ESPN was their “must have” app, which ranked sixth among all responses. The MLB.com app ranked 12th. Both ESPN and MLB scored higher among GenXers (36-47) and Baby Boomers (48+) as compared to Echo Boomers (18-35). Streaming video apps were the most popular answers among respondents. Three of the top five responses were NetFlix, YouTube and Amazon Instant Video. The 18-35 demo chose YouTube as the “must-have” app over NetFlix (57% vs. 54%) (Harris Poll).
