UM AD Brandon Gets Contract Extension, Pay Raise Three Years Before Current Deal Expires

The Univ. of Michigan has extended AD DAVE BRANDON's contract "three years before it's set to expire and increased his pay rate" to a possible $1.5M in '17-18, "up significantly from his current earnings," according to Kellie Woodhouse of ANNARBOR.com. Under the extension, Brandon will earn $800,000 "in base pay this year and his base will rise $50,000 each year afterward -- eventually reaching" $1.05M in '17-18. Further, the amendment "increases possible bonus pay to $200,000 each year, up from the $165,000 currently allotted" (ANNARBOR.com, 7/23). Meanwhile, in Memphis, Kyle Veazey reports new Univ. of Memphis AD TOM BOWEN has "an incentive-laden five-year agreement worth $400,000 annually" to lead the school during its first few years in the Big East. If the Tigers "excel the way Bowen wants them to, it could be worth another $200,000 annually to him, thanks to a myriad of incentives" (Memphis COMMERCIAL APPEAL, 7/24).
