PRO FOOTBALL TALK's Mike Florio cited sources as saying that NFL Dir of Investigations JOE HUMMEL, who has been involved with the Saints bounty investigation, has submitted a letter of resignation. Hummel plans to "remain on the job until the end of May." It is "unclear whether he'll continue to work on the bounty case, or when he last had an active role in the investigation." Florio noted Hummel had an "integral role in the process" (PROFOOTBALLTALK.com, 4/30).
